Proprio is a surgical technology startup building Paradigm, an AI-powered platform, for spine surgery. Proprio provides case reports to surgeon users, which contains metrics and key information about the surgical team's performance during each case navigated with Paradigm. Before those case reports are created, a clinical specialist must export the case data from Paradigm, drive or ship the data to Proprio HQ, and then an engineer can upload the data to be processed by the pipeline.
An engineer created a proof of concept for a web app to upload the case data to AWS. I jumped in as the lead designer to identify areas for improvement, rethink the upload workflow, and defined upload success.
Data exported from the Paradigm system can take a week to be processed for the surgical case reports. The existing data export and upload process can only be completed by users with specific technical expertise.
I collaborated with the lead cloud software developer, the web developer, and users to create the optimal workflow and establish opportunities for incremental changes to reach the ultimate solution.
Shipped incremental improvements
The development team is continuing to work towards the final design.
Enabled usage across the country
Clinical specialists in OH and NC no longer need to ship data to HQ.
